Cable Joint Kits

Our Cable Joint Kits connect polymeric cables to provide electrical continuity in power distribution across spliced cables. Connecting two lengths of cable, often installed externally, is a highly specialist skill, with challenging conditions in cable trenches out in the field. Joints are also available for the connection of telecoms, data and signalling cables.

Cable joints are suitable for cables with EPR and XLPE insulation (eg jointing XLPE cable to XLPE cable), and with PVC, PE and LSZH sheathing materials. They can be used with both armoured, braided, and unarmoured cables.

Low Voltage Resin-Filled Cable Joint Types

The types of Cable Joints available include:

Straight-Through Joints To extend the length of the cable run. Enabling core cross-over, for use in compression splices and mechanical core connectors. 
Branch Joints T-type branch or Y-type branch for off-shoot from the continuing transition network. Also available as parallel branch joints

For Low Voltage power cable connections, Resin Cable Jointing Kits, with their two-part polyurethane resin mixing system, provide effective resistant to environmental pressures, providing a sealed unit to protect the exposed ends of the electrical conductors contained inside.

Low Voltage & Medium Voltage Cable Jointing - Cold Shrink & Heat Shrink

Used across both Low Voltage and Medium Voltage applications (albeit notably different products), these cable jointing kits use either Cold shrink or Heat Shrink technology. Both options are lightweight and connect electrical cables taking minimal space in any cable routing. Where Heat Shrink cable joints require a gas torch flame or heat source to seal (requiring hot-works permits in many industries), cold shrink cables instead have a removable core that when unwound creates a seal around the cable.

In the case of Medium Voltage cable joints, the mechanical connectors for the conductor (aluminium or copper) and the copper wire screen are supplied. Regardless of voltage, the cold shrink joints and heat shrink joints are applicable to all polymeric sheathing options, for XLPE and EPR insulation, in single core or three-core variants.

In all cases, PILC cables (Paper insulated, lead covered) will need to be handled differently. There are specialist transition joints and equipment for the interconnection of PILC to XLPE or EPR insulated cables.
