318-A Arctic Grade Cables

Our 318-A Arctic grade cables are manufactured in accordance with BS6004 and both PVC insulated and PVC sheathed. It's the type of PVC polymer that is used that sets it apart from the standard 318-Y cable though as it's designed for temperatures as low as -40° Celsius.

The PVC used in the sheathing and insulation layers help maintain flexibility even at sub-zero temperatures - and so at room temperature these arctic grade cables offer some of the characteristics otherwise associated with elastomeric cables - hence the 318-A cable often being referred to as Arctic flex or Arctic flexible cable.

The Arctic grade cable is suitable for use both internally and externally - the temperature range of -40oC to +60oC covering a broad range of performance requirements and installation designs. The cables will often be specified for refrigerated rooms. 

Our range of 318-A cables are available in 2 core and 3 core variants, and have a voltage rating of 300/500V. 

These cables are BASEC approved. 

Many people associated Arctic Grade cables with the yellow sheath colour - these are available from stock, but so are Blue sheathed options. The asterisk in the Eland Part Number would be replaced by the colour code for the sheathing, with B for Blue and Y for Yellow.
