400Hz Airport Cables
Our range of 400Hz Airport cables provide a ground to aircraft power link when stationary and not under engine power on the airport apron, allowing pre-flight provisions, checks and maintenance to be made. These trailing cables are robust, being frequently attached, detached and moved.
The cables are also used within the wider critical systems, including flight radar systems and other computer and communications systems, to provide a low voltage 400Hz uninterruptible power supply, protecting against surges in frequency and voltage and ensuring the systems stay online throughout.
400Hz Airport Cable Construction
Copper conductors are surrounded by XLPE (Cross-linked Polyethylene) or XLEPR (Cross-linked Ethylene Propylene Rubber) insulation, The XLPE offering a maximum operating temperature of +90oC whilst the EPR is set at +80oC. 400Hz cables are available with or without 1mm stranded copper control wires in all variants from single core through to 7 cores. The 7 core cables are laid up so as to have a central core for neutral and 6 cores surrounding it.
Most 400Hz cables also have a Polyurethane (PUR) outer sheath but other materials including PVC, Polyolefin and LSZH are also available. Singles, 3 cores and 4 cores are in a high visibility Yellow, whilst the 7 cores are mostly black. A 400Hz Grounding cable is offered with Green/Yellow sheathing.
