AHXAMK-W, AHXAMK-WM & AHXAMK-WP Cables

Our AHXAMK-W, AHXAMK-WM and AHXAMK-WP cables are Finnish Medium Voltage cables manufactured in accordance with SFS 5636 and HD 620 S2:2010 Part 10 Section F.

AHXAMK Cable Specification

Widely used in large-scale construction projects for power distribution, these cables are usually installed externally in cable ducts and so are radially waterblocked to provide protection against water ingress. They are supplied in 3x1 triplex formation, with three insulated single cores wound together, similar to the cables used by UK Distribution Network Operators.

With Aluminium conductors offering a lightweight construction, the cables have an outer sheath of Polyethylene (PE) offering a high resistance to abrasion, and a Cross-linked Polyethylene (XLPE) insulation giving high dielectric strength and insulation resistance. The cable lay up for the three-core variants is slightly different across the cable types. The AHXAMK-W has a central bare earth conductor, the AHXAMK-WM has a central galvanised steel rope support, whilst the AHXAMK-WP is without any central element.

With their PE sheathing, these cables are halogen free but offer no flame retardant properties - an alternate cable or additional containment should be considered where necessary.

AHXAMK Cable Voltages

We supply the AHXAMK-W, AHXAMK-WM & AHXAMK-WP cables across a voltage rating of 6/10kV, 8.7/15kV, 12/20kV and 18/30kV.  In all three cable types, the cables are specified with an operating temperature range of -20°C to +90°C. AHXAMK Medium Voltage Cable Range

The AHXAMK-W, AHXAMK-WM and AHXAMK-WP cables are part of our wider HD620 standard catalogue, as well as part of our portfolio of HD620 standard cables. The choice of cable - whether AHXAMK or otherwise - will be dependent on a combination of performance, installation, and environmental demands.

Our technical team can support and guide you in the most appropriate specification for your installation. Depending on the requirements, alternatives including the AHXCMK (without waterblocking) and it's Copper conductor equivalent HXCMK may be appropriate. Where a Finnish referenced cable is not suitable we can support specification to other national standards or IEC standards and demonstrate parity and/or additional protections.
