NR/L2/ELP/27408 Cable Specification

The NR/L2/ELP/27408 cables sit within the signalling cable range - even though they are to provide power - as the approved application on Network Rail tracks is very tightly controlled. This range of unarmoured rail power cables have enhanced properties such as rodent-proof Fibre Glass Tape (FGT) preventing power disruption and induced fail-safe shutdowns resulting from gnawed lines. According to Network Rail's media centre, this enhanced class 2 based signalling power distribution system results in "a reduction in weight, transportation costs, laying costs and the cost of the cable itself."
