FL2XCY and FLYCY Airfield Cables

The FLYCY cable with it's PVC insulation, and the FL2XCY and FL2XCYRY cables with their XLPE insulation, are used as Medium Voltage power to primary and secondary series circuits in airfield lighting, available in voltages from 2Kv to 10kV. They are provided with a concentric copper wire and copper tape shield. In all three cases, the cables have a robust flame retardant, oil resistant and UV resistant PVC outer sheathing. Given their installation environment it is a key characteristic that these cables are impact and weather resistant.

FL2XCY and FLYCY Airfield Cable Applications

Airfield primary and secondary series circuits can provide power and lighting to runways, taxiways, airport aprons by connecting the Constant Current Regulators and the isolating transformers, and between the isolating transformers themselves. Where additional mechanical protection is required, the FL2XCYRY is recommended with its galvanised steel wire armour.

These single core cables are offered as standard with comparatively small sized copper conductors from 6mm² to 16mm²- whether solid or stranded in construction.
