LifY Cable

The single core LifY cable is designed for power and control in switch cabinets, as well as being used as a measuring cable in testing laboratories and as lead wires on portable testing equipment.

LifY Cable Specification - sizes and voltage ratings

The LifY cable design has been adapted to the German standard VDE0250. It has a voltage rating of 300/500V for cables with a cross-sectional area size of 0.5mm² to 1mm², and 450/750V for cables of 1.5mm² and above.

The LifY cable has a Class 6 extra fine flexible stranded conductor covered with a layer of PVC insulation that is flame retardant. It is available in a wide range of insulation colours to aid easy identification, including transparent sheathing. The full range of colours is listed below and on the technical datasheet

The LiFY cable is similar to the more commonly specified tri-rated cable and the multicore LIYY cables but offers additional flexibility. It should be noted that whilst it performs well at low temperatures, it has a narrower temperature range, operating between -15^oC to +80^oC.
