Twin and Earth 624Y 624B

Our BASEC-approved Twin & Earth cable (also known as T&E) is a flexible flat sheathed mains electricity wiring cable used in a wide range of domestic electrical applications with a voltage rating of 300/500V.

Twin & Earth Specification

The 624Y T&E cable can be installed in fixed wiring installations in dry or damp premises clipped to surface, on trays or in free air where there is no risk of mechanical damage. It is suitable for laying in conduit or trunking where mechanical protection is required.

Twin and Earth cable is a general fixed wiring and lighting cable, containing three conductors. As the name suggests, there is a pair or Twin current carrying conductors, both individually insulated, and one bare conductor which is the central protective circuit (CPC) or Earth. We supply Twin & Earth cable with PVC outer sheathing (6241Y, 6242Y, 6423Y and 6244Y) and LSZH sheathing (6241B, 6242B, 6243B, 6244B) - the last of the four digits in the designation relating to the number of cores in the cable.

Due to the non-UV resistant nature of its outersheath, Twin & Earth cable is not suitable for outdoor use.

 

 

624Y Cable Sizes

For full technical specifications, please refer to the BS6004 datasheet. Common references have core configurations denoted in the naming of the cable: 6241-Y, 6242Y, 6243Y and 6244Y. Similarly, the BS7211 datasheet for the LSZH equivalent twin & earth are noted as 6241B, 6242B, 6243B and 6244B cables. The cable sizes range from 1mm2 up to 16mm2.
