11kV triplex Cable & 33kV Cable
UK Power Networks (UKPN) is the Distribution Network Operator responsible for the power lines across London, the South-East and East of England. Owning and maintaining the power lines connecting millions of homes across over 11,000 square miles, they operate part of the National Grid along with the other DNOs including SSE, SPEN, NGED, ENW and NPG. Any connection from the existing grid to new sub-main developments in an area operated by UK Power Networks must use UKPN specification cables manufactured by G81-approved suppliers.
UKPN Cable Voltage Ratings
UKPN medium voltage cables are provided in two voltages, for different parts of the grid network. The 6.35/11kV cable is provided in triplex formation - three single cores wound together for three-phase power supply. The higher voltage 19/33kV cable is provided as a single core cable.
