Achieving ISO 39001 RTS Certification

We’re delighted to announce we now hold the ISO 39001 Road Traffic Safety Management accreditation. It sits alongside other recognised systems and best-practice accreditations that reflect our commitment to excellence across the business.

Why did we seek ISO 39001? Our other accreditations are linked to our business management (ISO 9001 Quality), the wellbeing of our colleagues (ISO 45001 Occupational Health & Safety), the environment we work in (ISO 14001 Environment, ISO 14064-1 Carbon Emissions, ISO 50001 Energy), and of course our products (Laboratory testing to ISO/IEC 17025, IECEE CBTL, and BSI Kitemark Cable Testing Verification). Yet a major part of our business operations – our fleet and delivery service – was only covered by sub-sections of these. Cable delivery is a very visible part of our service – from the branded HGVs on the road, to the drivers who load and unload for customers on site and the interactions they have – so it was important to ensure this too was subject to internationally recognised best-practice.

Our fleet already held Silver level accreditation under FORS (the Fleet Operators Recognition Scheme), as well as a JAUPT accredited driver training school and an IRTE accredited maintenance garage to keep the fleet on the road in optimum working condition. Whilst these are well-known in the industry – and indeed FORS Silver is required for access to some sites – it isn’t perhaps as well known to those not involved with logistics. By seeking ISO 39001 Road Traffic Safety it sends a clear signal to everyone that we take our responsibilities seriously: driver safety and the safety of other road users is paramount.

Our drivers transit across Europe – they’re trained not just to be safe on the road but to ensure safe and secure loading to avoid damage to goods in transit; they’re trained to be able to offer customer service as well as just an off-load when on site. Our extensive fleet have Euro6 engines so cut off automatically when idling to reduce emissions and noise – plus they’re fully tracked for real-time ETAs and instant PODs (proof of delivery) is available. ISO 39001 is another way of underlining how exemplary our service is… and we’re delighted to hold it.
