Working in support of Industrial Automation
Automation plays a vital role in manufacturing and operations. With optimisations for smart working it can reduce costs and improve health & safety. Each operation will have specific performance demands, environmental factors, and regulations to meet.
David, Sales Manager, explains: "It's the same challenge as the industry has always faced in that any downtime on any systems, whether it be manufacturing on a food and beverage scale or automated warehousing, will have a knock-on effect on the profitability of the company and the efficiency of the system. Being able to minimise that with a quality cable that people have a bit more peace of mind with - that puts a bit more reassurance on the client."
At Eland Cables we have an expert team who can advise you on cable specifications and tailored, cost-effective solutions.
David continues, "A lot of the time it's a case of 'well, these are the cables we've always used' which can work out very expensive. They're using the incorrect cable so the system isn't working as efficiently as it could be. And secondly, they might be over-speccing the cable which can be just as detrimental to your overall project."
We rigorously test these solutions in our Cable Lab to give the Quality Assurance of performance and compliance.
Emma, Lab Supervisor, gives an example: "This test is relevant for when cables can come into contact with oil. If the cable is not oil resistant and it comes into contact with the material, the material could become weak and brittle and break, then ultimately it would get through to the insulation, and then burn through the insulation and get to the bare conductor."
Efficient operations for even the largest scale projects rely on the quality of the cable that connects the equipment:
David concludes, "We have a team full of industry experts. What we're looking to do is understand your application, work with you to get you to the solution that you're looking for, and do that in the most cost-effective way."
