AAC, AAAC, ACSR sind Teil der Familie der Oberleitungen, Übertragungsleitungen und Stromverteilungsleitungen. Diese Kabel werden formell als Komplett-Aluminiumleiter (AAC), Komplett-Aluminiumlegierungsleiter (AAAC) und Aluminiumleiter mit Stahlverstärkung (ACSR) bezeichnet. Diese Aluminium-Oberleitungen werden für die Stromübertragung und -verteilung verwendet. Komplett-Aluminiumleitungen bestehen je nach Anwendung aus einer oder mehreren Litzen aus Aluminiumdraht.

AAC - ASTM - B Leiter aus Komplett-Aluminiumlegierung
AAC ist ein veredelter mehrdrahtiger Aluminiumleiter mit einer Mindestmetallreinheit von 99,7 %. Sie wird hauptsächlich in städtischen Gebieten verwendet, wo die Abstände kurz sind und die Stützen eng stehen. Aufgrund ihrer hohen Korrosionsbeständigkeit kann sie in Küstenregionen eingesetzt werden und wird auch in der Eisenbahn- und U-Bahn-Industrie in großem Umfang verwendet.
AAAC-ASTM-B Komplett-Aluminiumlegierungsleiter
AAAC werden als blankes Leiterkabel in Oberleitungen verwendet, die eine höhere mechanische Festigkeit als AAC und eine bessere Korrosionsbeständigkeit als ACSR erfordern. Die Durchbiegungseigenschaften und das Verhältnis von Festigkeit zu Gewicht des AAAC-Leiterkabels sind besser als bei AAC und ACSR.
ACSR - ASTM - B Aluminiumleiter mit Stahlverstärkung
ACSR sind in einer Reihe von Stahlanteilen von 6 % bis 40 % für zusätzliche Festigkeit erhältlich. ACSR-Leiter mit höherer Festigkeit werden in der Regel für Flussüberquerungen, Erdungs-Oberleitungen und Installationen mit besonders großen Spannweiten verwendet. Der ACSR-Leiter kann gegen einen bestimmten Widerstand mit unterschiedlichen Zugfestigkeiten hergestellt werden, sodass eine hohe Zugfestigkeit in Verbindung mit seinem geringen Gewicht bedeutet, dass er längere Strecken mit weniger Stützen überbrücken kann. Aufgrund des größeren Durchmessers des ACSR-Leiters kann eine viel höhere Koronagrenze erreicht werden, was bei Oberleitungen mit Hoch- und Höchstspannung von Vorteil ist.
